Ford Motor Company has invested $500 million in Rivian's EV startup technology to use its array of flexible skateboard platforms that include battery packs, electric drivetrains, and electrical architecture. Ford is excited about the breakthrough this new technology could bring to the industry. This investment won't affect the established plans of the electrical F-150 and Mustang crossover. Rivian had previously announced a collaboration with Amazon worth $700 million as the electric automaker has made deals with different car companies, many of which haven't been disclosed to the public. Experts say that the skateboard designed by Rivian will introduce exciting opportunities to the market.
