Elderly people shouldn't take aspirin every day, study says

Jan 25, 2019
Nobody denies the benefits aspirins have on people who have just suffered a heart attack or a stroke because of its qualities as a blood thinner, but one study found the drug has no benefit for healthy people over the age of 70, who sometimes decide to take it to reduce the risk of these problems. The study found in the New England Journal of Medicine advices elderly people against taking the drug unless it is prescribed as it can increase the risk of fatal internal bleeding.
