Intel announces exit from the 5G smartphone market
Apr 17, 2019
Intel has announced that it won't go on with its plans for the 5G smartphone sector hours after Apple and Qualcomm reached an agreement to settle their differences. In a statement, the company said that it would continue to meet expectations for existing 4G modems, as well as focus on the deployment of 5G networks. Intel is looking for other sources of revenue as PC sales slide worldwide and profit margins in the smartphone market are smaller. The company added that it doesn't see a clear path to profitability in the smartphone market.
