Google acquires a cloud startup to compete against Amazon and Microsoft
Feb 20, 2019
Google has made another investment to compete against Microsoft and Amazon with the acquisition of Alooma, a startup that provides cloud services for companies. Alooma is based in California and Israel; it offers companies the chance to move their data into a single data warehouse. Google's cloud chief had said earlier this month that the company would double down on its intention to grow in the market, and it seems Google believes it has a fighting chance against Microsoft and Amazon. The company hasn't disclosed how much it paid for Alooma, but the startup has raised more than $15 million from investors.
