Ford announces plant closure in the UK
Jun 6, 2019
Ford has decided to close an engine plant in Bridgend, Wales as the automaker works to restructure its global business. The closure of the plant, which employs 1,700 workers, comes as the company makes a significant effort to cut costs and improve the decision-making process ahead of the challenges that the auto industry is facing worldwide. Ford had already announced that it planned to cut 7,000 jobs by August, most of which would be white-collar jobs overseas; the strategy is expected to save Ford $600 million a year. However, the closure of the plant in Bridgend is scheduled for 2020.
