Boeing tests its flying taxi prototype
Jan 23, 2019
Boeing is working with Uber to introduce the first autonomous flying taxi within a few years, and the company has released footage of its "PAV" prototype in action. We can see the model lift off, hover for a short time and land safely, and Boeing executives are encouraged by the success of the test since they say the PAV went from a concept to a functioning prototype in only a year. The vehicle is battery-powered with a range of 50 miles. Uber and Boeing have promised that flying taxis will be available by 2023, but some experts believe it could take longer for the regulators to grant their approval for autonomous aircraft flying around cities.
