Dec 12, 2018
The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission approved a measure for drivers of companies such as Uber and Lyft and a mandatory minimum wage for them. Car-hailing drivers are independent contractors, but the new payment will include operational costs as well. According to a news report, drivers for car-sharing companies will earn $17.22 per hour. Companies such as Uber and Lyft have had issues with taxi drivers since their creation, and around 800,000 drivers are working for the ridesharing companies only in New York City.
