Autonomous rally vehicle improves in car safety
Dec 18, 2018
The Georgia Institute of Technology has been working on improving the safety of autonomous vehicles with their Autorally Robot. The scaled-down self-driving vehicle is an effort to push forward on the development of safer ways for autonomous vehicle technology. The basis of this experiment is to take the cars to their limits while driving aggressively on fast dirt roads. The vehicle works through GPS, IMU, and different cameras, similar to real-life sized self-driving cars, and the team is experimenting with lidar sensors as well while keeping in check with frequent rollovers and rough situations, which provide more information than usual tests.
