Between the years of 1945 and 1970, thousands of children were victims of tortures and humiliation at the hands of staff workers at Danish children's homes. Now the current Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has taken upon herself to apologize to all those victims who continue to have trauma originating from the abuse. Frederiksen invited several victims of the crimes to her house to formally apologize for what the state did in all those years. According to authorities, the case is now too old to take legal action. Victims state that they only wanted to be recognized and that Frederiksen's apology is enough for them to find peace. Other people are asking for a fund to be created for the victims.
