New ID regulations will be implemented in 2020 for domestic flights
Apr 15, 2019
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will increase the number of signs to remind travelers about the REAL ID Act that will go into effect on October 1st, 2020. The regulation requires travelers to show a valid ID to travel domestically, or show a federal ID like a passport or a military ID instead, whereas, at the moment, that requirement can be exempted. Although most states have complied with the law, California is still under review, and after May 24th, travelers may have to bring a federal ID with them to the airport. Other states like Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island have been granted an extension, though travelers should keep an eye out for the dates.
