Missing children alerts are now displayed in ATMs in the Netherlands
May 28, 2019
The Netherland's government has started showing missing children alerts in ATMs made by the company In2Retail. The implementation will be first rolled out in ATMs placed in high-density public places like airports, malls, and tourist attractions. Two types of alarms will be shown, one being the Dutch-specific Vermist Kind Alert and the other Amber Alert; the latter is a particular type of alert that is issued when the child's life is immediately endangered; along with text messages and Facebook notifications. The alert system issued 26 alarms last year belonging to 30 missing children, of which 90% were found safely. The government will look at how the first rollout performs to see its functioning nationwide.
