Live feature on Facebook to be banned for users who violate security guidelines
May 15, 2019
Facebook has announced the implementation of a 'first strike' system for the Live feature. Users who are on Live and show violent content as well as spreading hateful information will be banned from the website for an undetermined period. Any other material that violates the guideline on their profile will count as a strike as well. This measure comes after lawmakers have pressured Facebook to place security measures regarding the New Zealand terrorist attack in Christchurch where a man opened fire against hundreds of people while streaming the whole attack on Facebook. The company is working with multiple universities to strengthen security measures with an investment of $7.5 million.
