Chinese AI app will find missing dogs using nose prints
Jul 15, 2019
A Chinese AI startup regarding surveillance grounds has found over 15,000 dogs using pictures of the dogs' nose prints, much like biometric systems that take fingerprints as identification. Megvii asks for the pet's owner to upload pictures of the dog's nose print in different angles to have image data in order to look for the dog if missing. This type of AI is already being used by researchers of wildlife conservation to track animals. Megvii spokespeople have also stated that the app can be used to track dog owners who don't pick up after their dog, and ultimately finding them to ensue a fine.
