The new telescope will map the universe in X-ray images
Jun 12, 2019
This German and Russian space telescope will be the first one to map the universe in high-energy X-rays. Since 2009, both countries started working on making this telescope a reality, and it will finally launch next week. The mission consists of two independent telescopes, the German one named eROSITA and the Russian one named ART-XC, that will work together on mapping the entire universe eight times in four years. Moreover, scientists expect that by using these maps, they will have a better understanding of how the universe accelerates and changes, and how dark matter is distributed.
