Scientists studied thousands of coral reefs to determine how to save them

Studies have shown that rising ocean temperatures and extreme weather events have destroyed miles of corals across the entire world. In an attempt to figure out how this vital part of marine life could be saved, an international team of 100 researchers analyzed 2,500 coral reef systems across 44 countries. Scientists found that functioning coral reefs still exist, and that the key to preserving them was by protecting the ones that are still functioning, and trying to recover the ones that haven't been drastically affected.
