Over a hundred countries signed a plastic waste accord
May 15, 2019
Almost all of the countries in the world signed an agreement to tackle plastic pollution and the US wasn't among them. After two weeks of meetings, an agreement was reached last Friday where 187 countries agreed to curb plastic waste worldwide. Plastic pollution levels have soared in the last decade, which is why countries will now have to monitor the amount of waste they export and private companies won't be allowed to sent plastic products to developing countries without the permission of their government. Although the US didn't sign the agreement, it will still affect them since they will have to ask for permission before sending products to other countries.
