Japanese rover landed on nearby asteroid
Jul 11, 2019
Japan's Falcon spacecraft has successfully landed on the nearby asteroid. Back in 2014, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency sent the Falcon spacecraft towards an asteroid named Ryugu and it wasn't until later last year that it was able to reach its orbit. In February of this year, Falcon touched down on Ryugu for the first time to leave an explosion that would create a crater in order to reach the asteroid's inner surface. After leaving the asteroid while the explosive detonated, Falcon has landed back in Ryugu once again to collect samples that will help experts study the history of our universe.
