Special FX are helping military physical rehabilitation
May 15, 2019
The Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre in the UK has just released the first use of the Computer Assisted Rehabilitation Environment (Caren) machine on a retired military lieutenant who suffered an accident in Afghanistan that damaged his nerves and restricted him from walking. The machine works by placing sensors on the body that are captured by several cameras and show the movement of every muscle. It is the same technology that movies use when adding special effects. Caren can be used to check the improvement a person is making while in physical rehabilitation with extreme detail. There are less than 10 machines in the world used for rehabilitation purposes.
