E-cigarette explosion kills a man in Texas

William Brown, 24, was killed when the battery of the vaporizing pen he was trying to use exploded. The explosion sent shrapnel and metal into Mr. Brown's skull, and perforated is carotid artery; this is the second death in less than a year as a consequence of exploding batteries, and there have been hundreds of reported cases in the country this decade. The event took place in the parking lot of a vape shop that Mr. Brown had visited moments earlier and he was using a style of pen known as Mechanical Mod, a model known to have this kind of malfunctions. Statistics show that there were 195 confirmed cases of exploding batteries between 2009 and 2016.
