Acetaminophen could decrease levels of empathy
Apr 15, 2019
A recent study in the Ohio University in Athens suggests that people who take Acetaminophen could develop a lower level of empathy and their ability to feel other people's pain. The study was performed in a group of 100 people who were half was given the medication and the other a placebo. After an hour, doctors showed them positive situations and experiences about other people, and it was found that people who took the medication showed a low level of empathy towards the stories. The psychological effect of the analgesic is often overlooked due to how easy it is to get. Future research is necessary to conclude the psychological impact of the drug.
