"Female viagra" approved as feminist statement

May 9, 2019
Sprout Pharmaceuticals released their $400/month pill called Addyi that increases sexual desire on women as a way of restating equality in the pharmaceutical department. The FDA approved the drug after committees and health organizations had accused the agency of approving men-only products. The drug is aimed at women suffering from HSDD (Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder). Doctors say low libido doesn't have a physical source but instead a psychological one; the condition should be treated by psychologists or sexual health professionals. Sprout has an ongoing social media campaign where it empowers women and equal rights through the use of the drug.
