American Airlines extends 737 Max flight cancellations through August 19th
Apr 15, 2019
American Airlines has announced that it won't operate the aircraft through August 19th as the plane remains grounded worldwide. The cancelation extends across an important time of the year for airlines and amounts to roughly 1.5% of American's total flights per day. The planes have been grounded since a fatal crash in early March due to a malfunction of the anti-stall software, and it is unclear when they'll fly again. Boeing was working on a software fix and stated that it has completed 96 test flights, but the fix is waiting for regulatory approval. In a statement, American said that it is confident that Boeing's updated software and training program will solve any current issues.
